Frequently asked questions
The fastest fixes for common sideline moments.
Capture and game day
How do I start and stop a highlight?
Use Sideline Save like the built-in Camera app: tap the red button once to start recording, then tap it again to stop and save the finished clip. The difference is that Sideline Save can include the action just before your first tap.
How many seconds before I hit record can the app capture?
Choose 0, 5, 10, or 20 seconds of pre-roll in Settings. Pre-roll captures action immediately before you start a highlight. You can also choose post-roll to continue recording briefly after you stop. The app starts with sport-specific pre-roll defaults.
Does Sideline Save record when the app is closed?
No. Sideline Save keeps recent video ready only while it is open and active. If you lock your phone, switch apps, or close Sideline Save, camera and microphone capture stop. If you had already started a highlight, the app makes a best-effort attempt to finish and save the footage captured so far.
How does using Sideline Save affect battery life?
Keeping the camera active and maintaining a video buffer uses more battery than ordinary phone use, especially at higher-quality settings. Start with a full charge and bring a battery pack for tournaments or long game days.
Which sports does Sideline Save support?
Sideline Save includes presets for Baseball, Basketball, Volleyball, Soccer, Football, and Custom. Each sport keeps its own capture preferences, so you can tune settings without changing another sport’s setup.
Saving and storage
Where did my saved video go?
Saved clips are stored in the Apple Photos library—not inside a separate Sideline Save cloud account. Open Photos and check Recents or the Sideline Save album. Baseball, Basketball, Volleyball, Soccer, and Football clips are also added to a matching Sideline Save – Sport album when Photos allows the album update.
You can also open Saved Videos from the thumbnail in the lower-right corner of the Sideline Save camera screen.
Does Sideline Save take up local storage?
Saved highlights are stored in your Apple Photos library. While capture is open, the app temporarily keeps only the most recent seconds ready on your iPhone so it can include them in a saved highlight. That temporary footage is not uploaded or kept as a separate saved video.
How do I change the sport on an existing video?
Open Saved Videos, choose the clip, then tap anywhere on its Sport row or tap the pencil icon. Pick the new sport. Sideline Save keeps the clip in the main Sideline Save album, removes it from the prior sport album, and adds it to the new sport album. Choosing Custom removes it from the prior sport album without creating a Custom album.
How do I share or delete a clip?
Open Saved Videos, then open a clip or use Select to work with several clips. Use the share button to open the iOS share sheet. Deleting asks Photos to move the video to Recently Deleted. If you change your mind, recover it from the Photos app while Apple still retains it there.
How can I share my videos on GameChanger?
Open GameChanger, open or create a new message thread, attach a photo, go to Albums, and choose your Sideline Save album.
Downloads and Sideline Save Pro
Is Sideline Save free?
Sideline Save is free to download and try with up to 15 successfully saved videos. A failed capture or save does not use one of those 15 videos.
What happens after I save 15 videos?
You can still open, play, share, favorite, and manage the videos you already saved. Starting another capture requires Sideline Save Pro, which unlocks unlimited saves through an annual subscription.
What does Sideline Save Pro include?
Sideline Save Pro unlocks unlimited saved videos. The current annual price is shown in the App Store and in the app before you purchase.
How do I restore or manage my subscription?
Open Sideline Save Settings, then open Manage Subscription. Use Restore Purchases if you already subscribed, or Manage Subscription to open Apple’s subscription controls where you can review or cancel the subscription.
Permissions and privacy
How do I allow Camera or Photos access?
Open the iOS Settings app, search for Sideline Save, and review Camera, Microphone, Motion, and Photos access. Camera and Photos are required to capture and save clips. Limited Photos access is enough because Sideline Save only needs to save videos and read back the videos it created. Microphone is optional.
Why doesn’t my video have sound?
Microphone access is optional. If you want sideline audio, open iOS Settings, find Sideline Save, and enable Microphone. A clip recorded while access is off will remain silent; granting access later cannot add audio to an existing clip.
How does Sideline Save protect my privacy?
Your camera video and optional audio stay on your iPhone and in your Photos library. Sideline Save does not upload your camera feed, saved videos, audio, or Photos identifiers. The app has no user accounts; it may collect limited anonymous usage and permission-state analytics to improve the product. See the Privacy Policy for details.
Setup and troubleshooting
Can I mount my phone or camera on a Little League fence?
Check with the host league and facility before setting up. For parent or fan streaming, Little League’s live-streaming guidance says that stream equipment may not be affixed anywhere on the playing facility. It also says camera placement cannot obstruct the view of people attending the game.
Why isn’t the level meter visible for every sport?
The Level Meter is saved separately for each sport. Open Sideline Save Settings, choose the active sport, and turn on Level Meter for that sport. Motion access must also be enabled in iOS Settings.
What devices does Sideline Save support?
The current Sideline Save release is designed for iPhone running iOS 17 or later. A real iPhone camera is required for capture; simulator previews used during development are not real camera recordings.
