Football highlight videos for parents

Capture football plays without recording every down.

Keep Sideline Save open and frame the part of the field where the play will develop. When the action starts, tap Record. The Football preset can include up to 20 seconds of recent action before the tap, then keeps recording until you stop.

One play, three actions

Keep the snap, the play, and the finish together.

Frame the play area

Keep the line of scrimmage and likely run or pass action in view before the snap.

Press record when the play develops

The Football preset starts with 20 seconds of recent action, so the clip can include the snap.

Press stop after the whistle

Keep the run, catch, tackle, or celebration, then save the finished video to Photos.

The camera-roll problem

A football highlight can begin before the ball carrier breaks free.

With the built-in Camera app, you have to choose before the snap whether to record. That can mean keeping long stretches of game footage just to catch one play.

Sideline Save lets you wait for the play to develop. With the Football preset’s 20-second recent-action window, a clip started after the snap can still include the beginning when Sideline Save was open with the camera ready.

Common questions

How football recording works.

Does Sideline Save record the whole football game?

No. While the app is open, it keeps only the previous 5, 10, or 20 seconds ready on your iPhone. Tap Record when a play develops, then tap again to stop.

Can it include the snap if I press record during the play?

Yes, if the snap and early action fall within the rolling window you selected and Sideline Save was open with the camera ready. The Football preset starts at 20 seconds.

Can I frame plays from the stands?

Keep the camera pointed at the area where the play is developing. Sideline Save uses the standard iPhone camera view, and the Football preset offers familiar zoom controls for distant action.

Is Sideline Save free?

Sideline Save is free to download and try with up to 15 successfully saved videos. Sideline Save Pro unlocks unlimited saves through an annual subscription; the current price is shown in the App Store and in the app before purchase.

Where does the finished video go?

Sideline Save saves finished videos locally to your Photos library and organizes them in its Saved Videos view. It does not upload your sports footage to a Sideline Save account.
